LOUIE ACEVSKI'NİN 2014 SEZON DEĞERLENDİRMESİ

Sep 22, 2014 - 12:30am

Season 2014 has come to an end with the senior team finishing in 6th position missing out on 5th by goal difference.

At the start of the season a top 5 finish was the aim of the club, a great stepping stone for the club from the previous couple of seasons.

This season was all about stabilising the club both on and off the pitch and we achieved our goal on both fronts. With players signed like Shane Rexhepi, Petar Franjic, Joseph Franjic, Kliment Taseski and Richie Cardozo their was great enthusiasm from the coaching staff that if we had available majority of our players week in week out, we could surprise a lot of other teams.

Unfortunately we didn't start off to well, losing 3 out of the first 4 games but things were soon to get harder with a major injury to our captain Nick Hegarty who missed 16 weeks of the season. Following this within weeks, we lost both Franjic's, Taseski, Walker, Erdogan, Buceto, Rexhepi and Stojcevski through either injury, trials overseas or overseas travels. Obviously this wasn't the ideal situation for the club but credit to the boys that were available they stuck together and worked on a game plan to pick up as many points as possible by taking it one week at a time.

There was a lot of positives to come out of the unfortunate position the club was in with many players missing and that was the emergence of the young boys proudly now representing the club at senior level. These players like Matt Hennessey & Ilhan Altuntas combined with Chris Oldfield really gave it their all and showed everybody that they will be excellent players in years to come. We have to mention that Chris Oldfield was outstanding throughout the second half of the season by making many important saves and being an inspiration to his team mates, he thoroughly deserved his 'Best & Fairest' award for 2014.

Putting season 2014 behind us, we are all eagerly awaiting commencement of the pre season 2015. The club will look to bring in a few new players to compensate for the players that have moved on to overseas clubs & A League clubs but also we are looking at bringing in a couple of vital players in vital positions like a striker and attacking midfielder. Our aim will be to improve from the 2014 season and if we have a touch of luck, hopefully we can challenge for the title which would be a great achievement by our club. At the same time we will look at being successful in the Dockerty Cup as well as progressing to the FFA Cup for next season.
